Who Needs a Bed?

July 26, 2010

I’m back from Dahab after 18 total hours of travel on a bus! It was jam-packed with swimming, snorkeling, and hiking. In the two days I never once slept on a bed. Who needs sleep when you can just go on a night-long hike up a mountain with only the moon to light the way?! Let’s just say my body is very angry at me right now.

The view and all was great, but the high light (or low light)? A guy, in our tour group, with a wolf cane who talked about spirit animals and finding crystals from the mountain. He also talked longingly about a magic drug that is naturally found when you are born and die. Oh, and he also brought a laser pointer from America just to shine it on the mountains, while it was brilliantly peaceful and quite. I definitely wanted to kill him by the end of the hike.

Here are some photos from our hike up Mt. Sinai.

everyone waiting in anticipation for the sunrise. it was biblical.

view of the surrounding landscape.

small church atop the mountain.

that's a whole lotta people coming down the mountain.

elijah's basin. supposedly, where moses' followers waited.

we decided to take the steps of penance down the mountain. over 3000 steps!

view of st. katherine's monastery from the mountains.

bell tower inside the monastery.

And as per custom, here are the rest of the photos:

Wow! Great photos – Dahab is one of my favourite places in Egypt.
